Down to the Wire

Well we've survived two more days of bathroom renovation, and I think that the painting is complete!

Yesterday was a pretty long day.  We started with wiping down the walls, taping all the edges up, and putting down plastic on the floor and over the sink and counter.  Then we started with the primer, which was pretty easy.  While the second coat was drying, Mom and I went to Hobby Lobby and found the stencil we wanted (yay!).  Then when we got back we started with the first coat of the Plum color.  By this time I was pretty much sick of painting... but we weren't done yet!  Thankfully we had bought an edger (Mom's idea) which made things a lot quicker.  This is the first time I've used one and its so much more convenient then a paintbrush!  Anyways...

That was pretty much what we did yesterday.  Oh and we painted the bottom part too, but the paint was so light you could barely tell that it was purple so we ended up doing that over today.

Today we focused mainly on the stenciling for the design on the back wall.  After just doing half of this little wall I can easily say that I HATE stenciling.  Ha.  It was certainly an experience, but I think it turned out pretty well!

So we finished the stenciling today, and we mixed some of the light purple paint with the Plum paint to create a shade of purple that would actually show up on the bottom without being too overwhelming.

And then once we finished all the painting, we got all the tape off, got all the drop cloths thrown away, and got the messy spots touched up.

Right now Dad is working on a frame to put around our mirror, and tonight we also hope to put up our new fixtures.

And then tomorrow will be spent cleaning!
